A slightly hoarse Beyonce, still on the promo trail for the #1 album '4', popped up on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' recently. The International pop star performed her hit 'The Best thing I Never Had', and she also stuck around to dish with Jimmy about her year off, her travels to China and bandmate's Kelly Rowland's new cd 'Here I Am'. Take a look. Despite being a bit hoarse, Beyonce still gave a stellar performance!
I was listening to an Andre 3000 rap and the line, "We came a long way like dem slim ass cigarettes..." stood out in my mind and just so happen became the inspiration behind this article. I was thinking about how some stars were when they first impacted onto the scene to the present day. Some artists have had meager beginnings but have risen to the level of SUPER STARS. Let's take a look at a few to see the progression of hungry new jacks, to seasoned veterans that STILL command and garner accolades and adoration from their legions of fans.
No,No,No -Destiny's Child
Run The World-Beyonce
Motivation-Kelly Rowland
What have you done for me lately- Janet Jackson
So excited-Janet (She only needs one name now--we all know who she is!)
Famed celebrity photographer Derek Blanks, known for his signature 'ALTER-EGO' photo spreads takes us behind the scenes of this summer's hottest release, Kelly Rowland's 'Here I Am'.
Blanks has worked with the biggest and brightest in the business and constantly changes the face of photography. One shoot quickly out does the one before as he broadens his repertoire and takes celebs to places they may have never dreamed of, photographically.
Take a look at a master at work as he transforms Kelly into the 'Here I Am' vixen we see in the album art for her hot new project that hit stores and online Tuesday.
Last night Kelly Rowland ended her busy promo day at her very own album release party held at The Standard Hotel in NYC. Kelly was busy promoting her 3rd solo album, 'Here I Am', making stops at '106 & Park' with Terrence & Rocsi, then Planet Hollywood, then The Angie Martinez Show. You must respect the energy and time Rowland put in on the promo trail. And the 'party' didn't stop there. Kelly then hosted her album release party and her fellow bandmates Beyonce and Michelle came out to support her. There destiny maybe 'fulfilled' but the ladies reunited once again, if only for one night to show their love and support for their 'sister'. A host of other celebs were on hand as well to celebrate Kelly's success!

*Big Sean* Let's 'scratch' Estelle out and pretend Beyonce is in her spot.-LOL
Kelly Rowland's 'Here I Am' to dropped yesterday, and Chris Brown is set to take 'F.A.M.E.' on the road. There has been some talk about Chris and Kelly possibly touring together! Brown took to Twitter a few days ago and let out sparse details about his upcoming tour that lead some to think Rowland would be a tourmate. No details are solid as of yet! If Chris & Kelly toured together, would you go out and support it?
UPDATE!!! Kelly Rowland confirmed on The Angie Martinez Show that she is indeed going on the road with Chris Brown, and that the tour would take off in September.
Kelly Rowland is really in PROMO mode with the release of 'Here I Am' on yesterday. Kelly stopped by Power 105.1's 'The Breakfast Club Morning Show with DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne to discuss her album, the success of her hit single, 'Motivation' and her hot BET Award's performance.
Kelly is getting well received from this side of the pond to the other side, from X-Factor U.K. to 'Vibe'. Speaking of 'Vibe', Kelly Ro stripped down for the cover of 'Vibe's JUICE Issue. In the article Rowland 'bares all' about walking away from former manager Matthew Knowles and the constant comparisons to Beyonce. Rowland gets quite candid in her responses and 'Vibe' did not hold back in grilling her either.
It's KELLY ROWLAND DAY here at THE GAMUTT!!! WHITE HOT DISC in stores today, 'HERE I AM' is finally here! Get a listen at what you can expect from R&B diva Kelly Ro!!!
It is finally here!!! Kelly Rowland unleashes 'Here I Am'! The hotly anticipated disc hits stores TODAY!!!
Take it from me, the disc is a smash! A must have!!!!!
One of my favorite tracks is the Rico Love-assisted "All Of The Night." Kelly coos sweetly in multiple-part harmony as she successfully seduces her man: "One on one, we're having some fun/In the bedroom all day and all of the night." Rico Love replies with a very sexed-up verse of his own and asks one simple question: "I don't mean to impose but what the clothes for?/This is a bedroom and that's a closed door." I think I am going to use that line. This song is already BUZZWORTHY on MTV.com!

This is the 'KELLY' we've been waiting to see! You got to LOVE IT!
HipHopWired.com recently caught up with the beautiful and talented Kelly Rowland on the heels of the release of the highly-anticipated 'Here I Am'. Rowland gave some words of advice about 'the business' when she was interviewed at the ASCAP 'Women Behind the Music' event. Kelly offers advice about following your dreams and what it takes to make it in the business and also talks about possibly working with Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka in the near future. Take a look at what Kelly had to say:

You may not want to try this at home unless you have a chiropractor on hand and Richard Simmons on speed dial.--LOL. BFF's Kelly Rowland and tv personality LaLa get physical for a new health spread in 'Shape' magazine.
This definitely makes for an interesting workout. It sure does make an interesting visual! The two ladies look amazing, and now we see how they get those fantastic bodies. The rest, you can use your imagination..lol
Rapper/Mogul/Actor 50-Cent has been known for having strong opinions and also he's known for letting everybody else know about these opinions as well. Recently, MTV news sat down with the 'I Get Money" rapper as he disccuses what hot songs he is currentyl rocking to and and he also gushes about how great he thinks Kelly Rowland is. He says she is the most underrated female soloist out and this is 'her year' to shine! See what else 50 had to say about the beautiful and talented Kelly Rowland!
After a whopping 17 weeks, Kelly Rowland's 'Motivation' is again #1 on the Hot R&B/HipHop charts on Billboard! And also to her credit, the hit single is climbing the Hot 100 chart as well, where lands at #19. Hmm, I think I smell crossover hit as well! This song is smoking hot, one of the most requested and played songs of the Summer so far, so congrats are in order for Kelly!
This puts Kelly in great positioning for the release of her highly-anticipated disc, "Here I Am", which hits stores July 26th. I have heard some previews, and it is shaping up to be a defining release from the "Destiny's Child" singer! Make sure you get 'Motivation' on iTunes.com, and go pick up the cd or download 'Here I Am' from Amazon.com or iTunes when it hits the shelves!
Sometimes it amazes me how some artists miss out on their HIT single. The radio may love it, the artist may even love it, but the RECORD LABEL may not be behind the song, so when that happens, the artist is stuck with a song that the fans LOVE, but they can't release as an official single because there is no budget behind it.
Case in point. Mary J. Blige's 'My Life' album which is often hailed as Mary's best cohesive project spawned numerous hits. The title track however, was not released as an official single, but it is a true stand-out cut from the disc and still get radio play today. Note there was never a video made of the song because it wasn't a 'single' per se, but still a hug radio hit.
'My Life'-Mary J Blige
The 'Libra' album was a great album for Toni, and even debuted at #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop charts. 'Trippin' however was supposed to be a single, but the LABEL didn't push the song nor did they really promote "Libra" like they should have. 'Trippin;-Toni Braxton
Brandy had so many hits from "Never say Never', that some may have thought this track was a single. However it was not, therefore no video was ever made. It still proves to be one of the best tracks on that disc. 'Angel in Disguise'-Brandy feat Joe
Destiny's Child has so many unreleased songs that they could come out with at least two full projects and not have to step back into the studio. This single was slated to be on the 'Destiny Fulfilled' disc, but didn't make the cut because at the time another R&B diva was '2-stepping' up the charts. Ciara had the popular -Missy-assisted song '2step' out at the time, so he ladies of Destiny shied away from that single. '2-Step'-Destiny's Child
One of the all time CLASSIC MJ songs that was never an OFFICIAL single! Surprise surprise. the song was so huge, it took on a life of it's own anyway and still went on to be a HUGE success. 'Wanna be startin' something'-Michael Jackson
Kelly Rowland's "Ms. Kelly" disc had a whole lot of promise. But bad single choices made some of the stand-out cuts on the album fall by the wayside. 'Flashback' was slated to be the 1st single, but the LABEL felt she should come with some more upbeat for her 1st single, so they went with the Sean Garrett-produced, Eve-assisted cut, 'Like this'.
'Flashback'-Kelly Rowland
This is VINTAGE Janet! 'Luv' was from Janet's 1st & Only album on Def Jam, "Discipline". Slated to be a 3rd single for Janet, this song was promoted and even went to radio, but the sour relationship with Janet's camp and the label soon proved too much. The single was never made into a video and Janet soon parted ways with Def Jam. But you have to admit, this would have been huge hit from that disc. This is what Janet's core fans had been waiting to hear from her.
'Luv'-Janet Jackson
This is just a FEW that came to mind. For MORE IN-Depth postings like this, see my Girl BRILLION-A-MILLION!
Kelly Rowland undeniably is WHITE HOT these days. With "Here I Am" is set to hit shelves July 26th, 'Motivation' still #1 on the Charts and Kelly judging X-Factor, it seems that Rowland can't be stopped. Recently FuseTv spoke with Kelly as she gushed about her new project. She even referred to her new disc as being her 'baby'. The project has been a longtime coming, and Rowland has nurtured it to get the sound and feel she's ben looking for. The R&B diva explains her project and her passion:
