"We need a DOCTOR!" Dr. Dre wins lawsuit against Death Row Records!

Dr. DreIs there a DOCTOR in the house?  Well now there is and Dr. Dre has a lot to smile about.  Pioneer rapper, producer,Dr Dre has won a lawsuit against Death Row Records for the rights to his classic album ‘The Chronic’.

In the case against Death Row records,Dr.Dre is now entitled to own 100% of all digital sales made from the album, his attorney, Howard King, told The Associated Press.

Dr.Dre sued Death Row Records last year claiming that he was not receiving a fair amount of profits from digital sales of “The Chronic” and that the label was using some of his music on compilation albums without his permission. For years, Death Row Records continued to distribute his music digitally and combined his hits with weaker Death Row tracks in an attempt to elevate the stature of their other artists.

"We are gratified that the federal court has unambiguously declared that Death Row has no right to engage in such tactics, and must hold all proceeds from these illicit distributions in trust for our client.” , his attorney said in a statement.

This ruling may spark a precedent for other such cases involving artist's royalties, and may indeed serve to help others that are in similar situations with past record labels.

With this out of the way, maybe now, we can finally get the much talked about, ofted-delayed 'Detox' album that Dre has been promising for years.  One can hope...
