"The Hangover Part II" crushed a box-office record over the weekend, grossing $86 million from Friday-to-Sunday, the biggest opening ever for a live-action comedy. This hefty bounty is due in part to the Memorial Day holiday and a Thursday debut. The sequel (which swaps Las Vegas for Thailand) has already made $117 million. "The Hangover" opened with $45 million in 2009. "Part II" stands just behind "The Matrix Reloaded" on the list of R-rated openings.
There were somel ess than stellar reviews about the film saying that it begins really slow and the build-up to the wedding took too long and that the film plays on too many raunchy parlor jokes and stereotypes. But of course you can't please all of the critics all of the time. You can't really please most of the critics some of the times. But fro the numbers, the viewers LOVED the film and that's what counts when you add up the ticket sales at the end of the weekend.
