Well before you can blink an eye these days celebs and us NORMAL folk will take to Twitter to sound off! People are reacting to the BET Awards nominations, particularly one category--Best Female Hip-Hop Artist. In case you missed, the nominees are:
Best Female Hip-Hop Artist
Nicki Minaj
Diamond---------->Really?
Cymphonique-----> WHO IS THIS?
LoLa Monroe-----> Really?
Do you guys see anybody missing from the roster? I can think of a few. Trina who released an album and 2 mixtapes since last year is ABSENT, as well as Kimmy Blanco who also released a 'successful' mixtape as well. So, how is it that Diamond, LoLa and Cymphonique are in the ranks and Kimmy & Trina are not? Even Eve has put out some music sine last year and she isn't in the ranks either. And for those that don;t know LoLa Monroe was a popular video vixen turned hip hop artist and Cymphonique is kid sister to 'Dancing with The Stars' heartthrob, Romeo and daughter of Master P.
The Hip-Hop female category has for years been in limbo, because there would be years that no female artists had any material out worthy of praise. Until Nicki Minaj came along, Missy Elliot took that trophy home almost every year. Of course Minaj will take this year's trophy home because she is by far the most successful femcee in the category as well as the most successful femcee RIGHT NOW. But it begs the question--what is the criteria to be nominated?
Apparently Trina was feeling some kinda way about the snub so she took to everybody's favorite sounding board to tweet this colorful sentiment:
I guess that GIFT BASKET in the swag room at the BET Media lounge with Trina's name on it will go unclaimed. Trina as of this morning has not deleted this tweet either.
For pretense and purpose, she knows if Trina even runs her own Twitter account, or she could've easily been hacked. I am sure she would not blatantly disrespect one of her biggest platforms despite the obvious snub. Or would she?
