Idris Elba SLAMS Tyler Perry!?

Idris Elba has been fastly becoming that leading male actor in Black Hollywood as of late.  Elba recently made the news for some comments he made about Tyler Perry!  After the BET Awards 11, Cheri Saunders of Black Press radio asked Elba to chime in on the recent Spike Lee v Tyler Perry feud.  Well, apparently Elba must have been feeling 'some sort of way' and had this colorful statement :

“Can I be candid? I don’t like all of Tyler Perry’s films. Yes, I did work with Tyler for ‘Daddy’s Little Girls’ because it portrayed a positive image of a black father. I am happy for Tyler’s success…we need Tyler Perry…by going to support his movies, we need to show economic strength. But we are also responsible for elevating film. I’m not with buffoonish characters like Madea or Big Momma.”

 Wow!  Seems like Elba had some things on his chest he needed to release?  Well, in essence, he is pretty much siding with Spike Lee, wouldn't you say?

Well, I guess he needs not even THINK about auditioning for "Tyler Perry's  Madea's Big Happy Day at the bank as she deposits all the money she's made from all her movies, plays, and dvds" Movie. LOL.

I was gonna wait until my radio show to address this but I want to say this now. I trusted someone that worked 4 me & allowed them to use my laptop a million times, I caught this person sending my pics to themselves and I fired this person immediately Wiz & I & both of our families have known about this for 2 months now. We tried to prepare ourselves for this day. Those pictures r 2 1/2 years old just sitting in my computer. I’m really hurt & embarrassed because I have so many young girls that look up to me. I would never put those pics out of myself.


Well, any publicity is good publicity, right?  Hmmm, we'll see how this plays out.....

The Wonderful World of MISSY!

Hip-Hop pioneer, trendsetter, and mega-producer Missy Elliot has been in the news a lot lately, and its not for her music.
People Magazine  revealed recently that Missy Elliott had been battling with Graves’ Disease, an autoimmune disease that leads to overactivity of the thyroid.  Rumors began swirling around that the innovative artist was ill and that the disease has strickened her and her fans and people that were not 'in the know' began to worry about the star.  'Is she okay?', 'Will this disease stop the music?', 'Where is Missy?'  The artists addressed the rumors:

“I was diagnosed with Graves’ Disease about three years ago, but it really hasn’t slowed me down at all. I rocked my performance on VH1 Hip Hop Honors tribute to Timbaland last year. I’ve written and produced a bunch of Grammy-nominated, #1 hits for artists like Keyshia Cole, Monica, and Jazmine Sullivan. I toured the U.K., Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. And on top of all that, I’m working on my new album. I feel great. Under my doctor’s supervision, I’ve been off medication for about a year and I’m completely managing the condition through diet and exercise.”

This week, she gets the best kind of treatment and female celebrity can get, pictures of her and her adorable baby. The boy's name is Kroy Jagger, which is not only unfortunate, it's also his daddy's name.

This story is more about the Ultimate Warrior talking trash about what Hulk did when people actually cared about either of them.

Two stories this week from the Weekly World News, which is the first time since the beginning of last year they were allowed two headlines on the cover of the Sun. As you can read, the ghost of a dead cat saved a dying tot.

For the most part, living cats pretty much avoid tots, dying or otherwise, because these small humans do not understand the concept of "can opener". But if we believe this story, when cats become ghosts they evolve into more loving creatures with a deep regard for all living things.

In other words, when cats reach the next step in karmic consciousness, they become dogs.

Food Stamps for Fast Food!? Now say it four x fast!

What are your thoughts on being able to use Food Stamps to purchase fast foods?  Think of the inherent problems this will compound.  America's poor, who are more likely to be plagued with poor nutrition and obesity issues than higher income groups, statistics show, are also more likely to get their meals from fast food restaurants.  It's a vicious cycle: Children who are raised in households in which they receive low-quality food are more likely to be poor themselves, in addition to suffering from diet-related diseases and struggling in school.



There's even evidence that high-calorie, low-nutrient-value diets (think sodas, french fries and low-quality proteins like hamburgers and chicken nuggets) contribute to aggressive risk-taking behavior.

Low income leads to unstable homes, unfortunate health outcomes and poor nutrition; unstable homes, unfortunate health outcomes and poor nutrition lead to lower incomes. And while we're at it, the circumstances of low income and poor nutrition are related to high debt (from health care bills) and poor success in school and criminal convictions.  And what portion of the population is more likely to be effected--African-Americans and Hispanics.

While most states allow food stamps to be used for soda, candy, ice cream and Doritos but not for hot prepared food meant to be eaten at the establishment where it's sold, a few states allow SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) recipients to use their benefits for fast food. Arizona, parts of California and Michigan already let food stamp users buy ready-made food at fast food restaurants, including Subway, KFC, Jack in the Box, Burger King, Pizza Hut and El Pollo Loco.


The idea here is that many homeless SNAP recipients, as well as those with unstable living conditions don't have a place to prepare food. And, the theory goes, it's better to let  this portion of our population to  buy fried chicken and burger as opposed to candy bars and cold burritos from a convenience store.


What do you think?  Should more states allow the use of Food Stamps to purchase Fast Foods?


Yum! Brands, owner of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC, thinks it's a great idea, however, and is lobbying the state of Kentucky to join its fellow fast-food-accepting states and allow the use of SNAP benefits in its restaurants.

PRINCE performing at Canal Plus in France last night!

Prince is still making the rounds performing and doing what Prince does--JAM OUT for his fans.  Last week it was revealed that Prince had rehearsed 300 songs with his band for his European tour which will feature (at least) three hours of music a night. Last night, he played 30 minutes worth of those songs live on French TV station Canal Plus during a show called Le Grand Journal.  Die hard Prince fans like my big brother would sit through the 3-hour set and still not get enough of the 'Purple Rocker'.  Here is a taste of what to expect during the European leg of the tour.

New Music: DJ Khaled feat. Mary J. Blige, Jadakiss & Fabolous-'It Ain't Over'-UPDATED

The BET Awards 11 just aired on this past Sunday and again on last night.  Mary J. Blige opened the star-jam-packed- event with some of her classics and then ended her set with a song you may or may not have heard yet.  Well, the song is entitled 'It ain't over ('til it's over)', and it is from DJ Khaled's soon to be released "We the Best Forever".  The song features Mary of course and fellow Yonkers native Jadakiss and Fabolous.  The unit have already shot a video for the song a few days ago, that should be impacting TV really soon.  Fresh off of 'I'm on one', Khaled seems to be in 'GRIND' mode right now.  Take a listen of the track and see what you think.

New Video: Drake 'Marvin's Room'

Young Money heavy weights, Minaj, Drake & Wayne are having a busy summer already.  Minaj is white hot right now on tour with none other than Britney Spears!  Nicki's singles are still riding high on the charts.  The 'General' Liltunechi is hotly gearing for the release of 'Tha Carter IV', which has seen a few pushbacks, but in the meanwhile, the hip-hop landscape has not been absence of his presence.  Drake is busy preparing the follow-up to 2010's 'Thank Me Later'.  Although the new disc, 'Take Care' is not due until October, a single that he released has been garnering a substantial amount of attention.  'Marvin's Room' is a hot new single about a drunk phone call to a past lover.  This single is so hot, that everybody and their brother seems to want to take a stab at it from JoJo to Chris Brown.  Even though this single will not be on the new disc, Drake has released a visual for it and here it goes.
